Best and Easiest Way to Make A Great Cup of Coffee at Home: French Pressed Coffee

Brewing Pressed Coffee

Brewing Pressed Coffee

Time and time again in our cafe, I am asked how to brew great tasting coffee from a French Press. Well folks, for anyone else out there who wants to know, here you are!

Please Note: Yes, this method is extremely time consuming, but the coffee that comes out of that press is pure heaven!

1. Pre-heat your press by filling it with hot tap water.

2. Get a large amount of water boiling, as you never know how much you may need at the end of the process.

3. Once your press feels hot enough dump out the pre-heat water and add your coffee grounds. A good rule of thumb is to use two tablespoons of coffee per 5 ounces of water.

4. When water is fully boiling fill your press 1/4 of the way up. Take a spoon and quickly stir the coffee grounds, then the press lid on top to keep the heat in. Place kettle back on stove and continue to boil.

5. After one minute, add boiling water up to half way point, again give the grounds a stir and cover. At this point, fill your coffee mugs with some of the boiling water to make sure they are pre-heated and ready to go.

6. After another minute, go ahead and fill the press the rest of the way with boiling water, cover and wait three more minutes.

7. At the end of three minutes, you may finally press your coffee. You can then dump out the pre-heat water and enjoy one of the richest, nicest cups of coffee you have ever had! If the coffee is a bit to strong for your taste, you can always add a touch of hot water to smooth it out.

I hope this help all you coffee lovers out there!

Thanks for the info! I have heard many ways of brewing the perfect cup. I have heard to wait 10 minutes. That always seems way to long.
